Observations and opinions. My opinion and $1 (it was 50 cents but I've adjusted for inflation) will get you a cup of really bad coffee.

Biden the Hapless Bag Holder
"A Hinsdale stock trader voiced his annoyance with an increase in Chipotle’s burrito price. He walked out of the eatery after learning the price of a burrito was more than $9, when it previously hovered around $8.50." - From the Chicago Tribune. After years of “serving” in lower government positions and jockeying for the “Big Chair”, Joe Biden now finds himself in position to be the fall guy for years of reckless government overreach and meddling. He epitomizes the phrase “be careful what you wish for because you might get it”.
Jimmy Carter was not a terrible person. He was a more gentle and eloquent man than is Joe Biden and he ultimately appointed the Federal Reserve Chairman that broke the back of inflation (and cost Jimmy Carter his job). I’m talking about Paul “Balls of Steel” Volker who warned Carter before his appointment that getting prices back in line and protecting the value of the nation’s currency was going to be his primary job. People across the nation who had become the beneficiaries of the “Stagflation Environment” were enraged over Volker’s actions. The producers and end sellers of high end products who were overly reliant upon credit sales to move their products hated Volker’s Fed. Car dealers, builders, real estate agents, banks, savings and loan enterprises (remember them??) were being squeezed. Any business that sold shit on credit had their nuts in a set of vice grips and Paul was squeezing them. Did he do it out of spite? No. He did it because “great Americans” had once again gone bananas with the use of credit in their God given fucking right to pursue their dreams. There is no lender without a borrower. Everyone was to blame and spending and credit sales had gone nuts. It had been coming for a while. Vietnam, LBJ’s “Great Society” and the fucking costs that went along with it, NASA forays into space, welfare expansion, etc., etc. all had costs. The movement of people out of cities and into rapidly expanding suburbs all had costs. A lot of those costs had been covered by borrowing. The borrowing and spending of those days is dwarfed by the borrowing and spending of today.
“The War on Terror” that dragged on for 20 fucking years, Obama phones, enhanced unemployment, EBT, the Space Force, four thousand (plus) square foot houses for two people and a Bichon Frise, a Lexus on lease with the option to buy at the end of the term, a Visa with a twenty grand limit, a populace that is obsessed with ways to “boost their credit score”, student loan forgiveness after reckless student loan borrowing, etc., etc., etc. Sound familiar? This country has lost its fucking mind (again). Powell is trying to “talk it down off of the ledge” and it remains to be seen if he will be successful. Biden was not my choice for president but he will be the unfortunate scapegoat for problems that were not his sole creation. Were I in his shoes, I’d say “Fuck it. If I’m going to be blamed for this God damned mess, I’m going out in a blaze of glory.” If Powell shrinks away from the task, I’d find a Volker disciple replacement and tell him (or her) to do what is necessary to break this bitch. Tell these whiny ass fuckers in no uncertain terms that the party is over.
